The ideal choice for your visit to Johor Bahru ~ either on business or leisure trip
#Indulge in Amari’s Signature Thai food and Signature Spa
My husband had to make a trip to Johor Bahru for business purpose on early December. Since it was also school holiday, we decided to make a short Cuti-cuti Malaysia to Johor Bahru with our 5 year-old daughter to enjoy for a few days and shop for CNY stuffs. Travelling together with small kids could be troublesome. We need an accommodation which is convenient to go to shops and restaurants when I need to take care of my little one alone. Searched through the web and we found Amari Johor Bahru located at the city centre with Komtar JBCC shopping mall and City Square within walking distance meeting our requirements. We booked for a 2-night-stay immediately!
During our 1st day, we arrived at Amari Johor Bahru at noon time. Checking-in was fast and smooth with the help of friendly staffs. Just like what is described in their website, the hotel room is well-maintained, clean and bright.
After check-in, we had our lunch at the Amaya Food Gallery located at the 6th Floor before shopping at Komtar JBCC for the rest of the afternoon. The food gallery serves a wide range of food from Western, Asian to local cuisine. Thai food was what we ordered. I must say this is one of the most authentic and delicious Thai cuisines I have tried in my food ventures at hotel so far. The location of the hotel is perfect that there is no chance for you to be starved or be bored. The famous Morganfield’s is just at the hotel’s doorsteps. Besides that, there are Japanese restaurant, toast box and many other F&B outlets nearby. Definitely a gourmet paradise!
After shopping and dinner we went back to the hotel where I decided to have “Me Time”. As I discovered there’s a signature spa at Amari Johor Bahru. How can I miss such a good chance to pamper myself? The Breeze Spa is located at the 6th floor of the building. It only opens until 10pm and I was lucky enough to be the last guest of the day! I love the spa therapy very much – no kid, no housework, just relax.
On our second day, we had our breakfast at Executive Lounge at 20th floor where we enjoyed wholesome breakfast with fantastic view of the city scenery. The lounge serves free juices, tea, coffee, soft drinks and snacks all day long. Computers and Wifi are also complimentary. My husband had invited his clients to have meetings at the Executive Lounge while I spent quality time with my daughter.
We went to the swimming pool at the 8th floor. At the same floor there is a 24-hour fitness centre too. There are some rooms which could access to the swimming pool directly, normally booked by guests who would just stay at the hotel all day long to enjoy swimming, sun-bathing and other hotel’s facilities. I thought it would be hot swimming during day time, but surprisingly it was still ok. The swimming pool is built at the centre of 2 buildings which helps to block some of the direct sunlight. After swimming we went to Komtar JBCC again to Angry Bird Activity Park. My daughter was so excited!
We were a little bit hungry after these activities, while waiting for my husband we had light refreshments at the Amaya café. They served handmade sweet, English scone and cake with my favourite TWG tea. After my husband was done with his work, he drove us for Moscow circus at Puteri Harbour! Although a lot of other attractions like the old Chinese Temple, Arulmigu Sri Rajakaliamman Glass Temple, Chinese Heritage Museum, Tan Hiok Nee heritage Street are all within short driving distance. I must say the strategic location of Amari Johor Bahru had really saved us a lot of travelling time and hustle.
It was a tiring but enjoyable day. Our little one was exhausted, so she went to bed very early. It was the last day of this short vacation. We decided to have some drinks at the Dip Bar to wrap the day up. The bar features an alfresco set-up which was very relaxing and quite romantic. The bartender told us that mid to end February every year is one of the peaks of the hotel booking. Some rooms even being reserved one year in advance. This is due to the annual Chingay Parade organized by the Old Chinese Temple. There are some rooms in the hotel which offer the best view of this parade. Well, I think maybe this is when we should come back again!
Amari Johor Bahru is the first hotel of Onyx Hospitality Group in Malaysia. The group has other properties at countries like China, Indonesia, Thailand and Maldives. I believe the team is very experienced in hotel management and this is why Amari Johor Bahru impressed us very much! It is really the best choice for both business and leisure travelers! Amari, am will come back to you again. Stay tuned!
